The Pilates exercises are performed with concentration, fluidity and full body control. Particular emphasis is placed on developing core stability (or trunk stability) so that the coordinated use of the spine and the limbs can produce smooth precise movements. A repertoire of many different exercises are performed at low repetitions so one can concentrate on movement quality. This results in developing strong, elongated, and toned muscles that are not bulky. Pilates trains both the mind and body and for this reason, it is important to maintain a commitment to consistent, attentive practice to receive the full advantage of its benefits.
